I’m not really sure how I feel about this one yet, but I’m already seeing a lot of problems with it. Oh well.
Watercolors and some colored pencil action for darkest shading and detail spots.

I’m calling the zebra finch done here before I start adding too much.
I’m pleased with it as of now :D

Ahhh I didn’t do my OTP challenge for today DDD: I’ll draw two tomorrow to make up for it?
Here’s a WIP for now.
I’ve been working on this today (he’s a zebra finch). I Finally bought some watercolor paper and was trying to work on something that I could potentially put into my portfolio when I apply for scientific illustration. I messed up quite a bit (made the brown belly section too long), and trying to get it out wasn’t 100% effective. I ended up adding a peachy wash to the whole bird to try and get it to blend in some. I’m not sure how I feel about it yet. The green might me a little overbearing, maybe if I make the background green that might help balance things out? I’m also not really sure how I’m going to go about adding white to the piece. I really should have thought this out better. Maybe I could use some acrylic paint for highlights and fluffy feathers?

Don’t mind me, I’m just messing around in Blender more. I was thinking about doing a 3D version of CFTR, but I ended up getting lazy after just making the lipid bilayer :P better than nothing, eh?

I wanted to mess around with 3d stuff so I downloaded blender and followed this tutorial: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y__uzGKmxt8
My cup is kind of… not the same. I accidentally added some extra stuff, but I’m still really pleased with it and learned quite a bit :D

Cystic Fibrosis Transmembrane Conductance Regulator Protien (CFTR)
Why study words when I can redraw colorful figures? :3
I’m kind of tempted to look into medical illustration, it sounds like such a dream job <3 Maybe if I don’t get into grad school.
These are images from my professor’s slides that I redrew. I’m not sure who the original artists are because there were no references in the notes and they’re not in the textbook assigned for the class :/ If anyone knows who drew the originals, please let me know.

realized there’s a typo in this, the upper NBD1 in the right drawing should be NBD2
